Thailand’s rapidly aging population is creating growing demand for home-based solutions that allow families to monitor older relatives remotely, as working-age adults increasingly face the challenge of caring for aging parents while maintaining demanding urban lifestyles.

Against this backdrop, THAI SECOM SECURITY has launched Smart Security Care, a residential elder-care solution designed for professionals who live separately from their parents but want greater visibility over their safety, daily routines and wellbeing.

Established in 1987 as a joint venture between Japan’s SECOM and Thailand’s Sahapat Group, THAI SECOM has traditionally focused on security services. Its latest offering expands this role into home-based elder care by combining wireless sensors, video communication, emergency assistance and 24/7 professional monitoring.

Promoted under the tagline “Caring By Your Side,” the service positions home security technology as more than a tool for protecting property. It is designed to help families stay connected to older relatives and respond more quickly when potential problems arise.

Smart Sensors Turn the Home Into a Care Network

Unlike conventional CCTV-based security systems, Smart Security Care uses multiple wireless sensors to monitor everyday activities across different areas of the home.

In the bedroom, motion sensors and mini door contacts can track patterns such as bedtime and wake-up times. A physical medical button next to the bed also gives seniors a straightforward way to request emergency assistance.

The bathroom, one of the highest-risk areas in a home, is monitored through door contacts that track usage patterns. Families can review this information through a mobile application, while the data can also be shared with healthcare professionals to help identify changes in routines. Medical buttons and water-leakage sensors provide additional protection against emergencies and household damage.

In the kitchen, refrigerator door contacts or motion sensors can help indicate whether seniors are maintaining regular meal routines. A sensor-equipped medicine box can alert family members when medication has not been taken.

The living room features an indoor Wi-Fi camera equipped with a microphone and speaker. Family members can view live video, review recorded event clips and communicate directly with their parents from virtually anywhere. Smoke detectors are also integrated to monitor fire-related hazards.

The system is linked to SECOM’s professional 24/7 central control center. If a medical or panic button is activated, or sensors detect an unusual lack of movement during the day, operators can investigate the situation, coordinate with ambulance services and dispatch an on-site professional team.

Priced at 1,199 Thai baht per month, the service introduces a subscription model that combines smart-home equipment with professional emergency monitoring.

Aging Population Opens New Market for Home Care Technology

The launch comes as Thailand’s smart home market enters a period of rapid expansion. According to multiple market sources cited in the industry material, the Thai smart home market was valued at $1.26 billion in 2024, is expected to reach $1.74 billion in 2025 and could grow to $6.11 billion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of 28.6%.

For Thailand’s increasingly urban middle class, long working hours, traffic congestion and lengthy commutes can make traditional forms of family caregiving difficult. Remote monitoring therefore offers a potential bridge between physical distance and the desire to remain involved in parents’ everyday lives.

The development also highlights a broader shift in the home security industry. Traditional security providers have generally focused on intrusion prevention, surveillance, fire protection and property security. Smart Security Care combines these functions with daily activity monitoring, medication reminders, communication and emergency response.

Thailand already has established security providers, including G4S Thailand, Securitas Thailand and GUTS Group, offering electronic security, guarding, monitoring and surveillance services. However, their conventional solutions are primarily designed around commercial security, property protection and general residential surveillance rather than the daily routines of older people living independently.

SECOM’s approach reflects the growing convergence of home security, smart-home technology and elder care. Rather than replacing caregivers or healthcare professionals, the system provides families with additional visibility into changes in daily behavior and a professional response mechanism when emergencies occur.

The technology does not currently represent a dedicated automatic fall-detection system. Instead, its emergency capabilities rely on medical buttons, no-movement alerts and remote video check-ins, which can help families identify situations in which an older person may be unable to seek help independently.

For international companies operating in Thailand’s senior-care, smart-home and home-health sectors, the development points to a potentially important market direction. As more older adults remain at home, home security infrastructure could increasingly become part of the wider elder-care ecosystem, creating new opportunities for technology providers, monitoring companies and care organizations supporting aging in place.
