Zoe Care harnesses Wi-Fi to transform fall detection technology

Zoe Care made a significant impact with its groundbreaking method of utilizing Wi-Fi signals for fall detection at CES 2024. Fall detection presents a significant concern, with instances occurring every second, impacting older adults aged 65 and above in the United States. These falls frequently result in prolonged periods of immobility for the individuals affected. Co-founder and CTO, Piotr Antonik unveiled the company's latest creation, Zoe Fall in TechCrunch's latest interview. Its latest launch is a smart plug that doubles as a fall detector, offering a user-friendly and non-invasive solution to address the pressing issue of fall-related injuries among the elderly population.

Fall detection presents a significant concern, with instances occurring every second, impacting older adults aged 65 and above in the United States. These falls frequently result in prolonged periods of immobility for the individuals affected. Zoe Fall operates by analyzing the shape of Wi-Fi signals and detecting perturbations indicative of human motion. This groundbreaking technology eliminates the need for wearables, cameras, or microphones, ensuring privacy and ease of use for users.

Unlike traditional radar systems or motion recognition algorithms, Zoe Fall operates independently without relying on cloud computing. Its patented AI algorithm enables accurate identification of human motion, encompassing various activities such as walking, standing up, lying down, breathing, and more, with exceptional precision. This level of detail extends beyond fall detection, offering insights crucial for monitoring the health of chronic disease patients and elderly individuals at risk of losing autonomy.

The device, which covers up to 800 square feet, serves as a cost-effective solution for securing multiple rooms or an entire floor of a household. Introduced at CES 2024, Zoe Fall is set to revolutionize elder care, offering peace of mind to millions of senior citizens and their caregivers.

Crucially, Zoe Fall prioritizes privacy by embedding its algorithm directly within the Wi-Fi receiver, eliminating the need for cloud processing. This ensures that no sensitive information is transmitted to external servers, with alert messages sent solely to caregivers or relatives in the event of a fall.

Looking ahead, Zoe Care aims to expand its Wi-Fi sensing technology to remote patient monitoring, offering comprehensive health monitoring for conditions like heart disease. With its cost-efficient subscription model and commitment to privacy and performance, Zoe Care is poised to make a significant impact in the healthcare technology landscape, providing caregivers with a powerful tool to ensure the well-being of their loved ones.
